Welcome to Year 5

Hello and welcome to the Spring Term in year 5!

This term our topic is Who Are Our European Neighbours? The children will be investigating the human and physical geographical features of a variety of European countries.

Just don’t mention Brexit!!

In English this term we will reading Peter Pan. We will also see it performed at The Theatre Royal and then we will do our own class assembly based on the story. Please come and watch.

In maths we will doing work on perimeter and area, multiplication and division and we will be in pieces over fractions.

In our science sessions this term our focus will be on forces. Any volunteers to jump out of a plane while we study air resistance??

Our P.E days are Wednesday and Friday and full P.E. kits are needed on those days.

In music we will be learning how to play the recorder. Ear plugs at the ready.

In RE we will be learning about hoe art is used in religion and Judaism. We will also be doing PHSE, ICT and French, Art and D.T.

Phew! I’m tired just thinking about it.

But with hard work, belief and a little bit of fairy dust, of course, we can do anything!

It will be a very busy term but hopefully lots of fun!

Special events include a Valentine’s disco, World Book Day and Red Nose Day. Year 5 children will also receive letters about Hinning House this term.

We welcome parents into the classroom every Wednesday morning from 8:50 – 9:30.

If you have any questions at all, please see me or Mrs Prior before or after school or arrange an alternative time at the school office if this is not convenient.
