Welcome to Year 4! We are so happy to be back in our brand new classroom and we are very eager to begin a new year of learning and growing.
Autumn term is due to be extremely exciting. We will be using all we have learnt in school so far, to further our learning potential.
In maths the children will continue to develop their skills across the different strands of the curriculum. We will ensure that the children have fluent knowledge of number whilst securing this further when applying to reasoning and problem solving.
In literacy we have started the year with a fantasy theme, where the children have been able to use their imagination and apply skills that they have learnt to describe their own characters. Throughout the term we will be focusing on writing at greater length.
Our new topic is ‘Rainforests’ where we will apply geographical knowledge and vocabulary to understand the contrast between different countries and their geographical structure.
We are also extremely excited to begin our swimming lessons which will take place every Wednesday. The children are already showing great progress after only a few weeks! In addition to this, we are also excited to be welcoming Mr Parr back into school every Thursday morning to kick start our year of musicianship. This begins with learning how to play the xylophone. We look forward to showing off what we have learnt at our concert at the end of Autumn term.
