Welcome to Year 3, where we pride ourselves on being growing learners!
Autumn term is an exciting time for Year 3 as we will begin our new journey into Key Stage 2. We will be using all we have learnt in school so far, to further our learning potential. Using an enquiry based approach, which will allow the children to engage fully with their new topic, ‘Ancient Egyptians’, in order to be independent in learning and finding out amazing facts about every aspect of our topic.
In Literacy we will be focusing on The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, in which we will get to be part of a fantastic production show which is coming into school. We will then be looking at a variety of different texts which will tie in wonderfully with our autumn topic.
Times tables will begin our every maths lesson to ensure we get in that important daily practice. We will also focus on written and mental strategies for the four operations and hope to become fluent and independent problem solvers, both practically and in groups.
The children are also extremely excited to take part in our Year 3 reading competition which will give every child in the class the opportunity to take home their very own library of books!
